I’m currently working on a new documentary film with my longtime friend, Samnang, called Sometimes, We Have to Go Back Home. It follows me and my two sisters as we return to Cambodia together for the first time in 43 years, since the day we left. Along the way, we captured not just the physical journey, but also the powerful conversations, memories, and emotions that came with it.

For me, this project is more than a film—it’s about Cambodian women’s voices, sisterhood, and the search for belonging. It’s about healing, reconnection, and what it means to come home after decades away. I believe it speaks to anyone who’s ever left a home behind—by choice or by circumstance—and wondered what it might mean to return.

We’ve launched an Indiegogo campaign to help complete the film, and I’d be so grateful if you could take a look, share, or support in any way you can. Every contribution or share helps bring this story to life. You can see some of the beautiful footage here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/sometimes-we-have-to-go-back-home/x/38719006#/
